Frequently Asked Questions

Q:What should I expect in the first appointment?

A:Your first session will involve me getting to know you and understanding your situation. You might be a little nervous. We’ll discuss the reasons you are seeking therapy, your goals, specific concerns you may have, as well as whether we are a good fit. I’ll provide you with an overview of my approach to therapy and answer any questions you might have. Before the end of the session, we can collaborate together on a plan that aligns with your needs and goals.

Q:Who do you work with?

A: I provide counseling to adults facing a variety of challenges. My specialties include managing anxiety disorders, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, stress management, and other situational life events. I also work with people on improving communication, personal development, and working through difficult life transitions. Feel free to contact me to discuss your specific concerns.

Q:How long are appointments?

A:The initial appointment is 60 minutes, and subsequent sessions are approximately 50-55 minutes.

Q: How often will we meet?

A:The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your individual needs and the nature of the concerns you are addressing. It’s common to meet weekly in the beginning, as that provides consistency and momentum. As we proceed, we can discuss adjusting the frequency to bi-weekly or monthly based on your progress and preferences. The goal is to maintain a schedule that supports your well-being and personal growth.

Q:How long will I be in therapy?

A:This depends on many factors, including the severity of your symptoms and stressors as well as how long you’ve been dealing with them. Some people feel comfortable with a few sessions, while others feel the need to be in treatment for longer than that. I will help you determine this based on how well you are doing and what goals you are still working toward.

Q:I don’t see my insurance listed on your website. Can I still use it for therapy sessions?

A:While I may not be in network with all insurance providers, I can provide you with a statement (superbill) containing the necessary information for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company using out-of-network benefits. I recommend you contact your insurance provider to better understand your coverage and reimbursement options. If you have specific questions about the insurance process or need assistance, please reach out and I’ll do my best to help guide you through the process.

Q:Can I have my therapy session while I am on vacation out of state?

A: My therapy practice is licensed in both New Hampshire and Florida, and due to state licensing laws I am only authorized to provide services within those states. If you plan to be out of state (other than Florida) during a scheduled session, please contact me in advance so we can reschedule.
